A 24-year-old Gardnerville Ranchos man is in Douglas County Jail on an immigration hold after he was suspected of stalking a 17-year-old girl.
Douglas County Sheriff's investigators are seeking information about anyone who may have come in contact with Edgar Oronia-Camacho or saw his vehicle, a green four-door sedan, in the vicinity of the Tillman 7-Eleven or the Ranchos Car Wash on Wednesday.
The teenager reported that she was at the car wash Wednesday evening when an adult male Hispanic stopped his vehicle on Kimmerling Road, adjacent to the car wash and tried to get her attention.
She said the man was nodding his head and honking his horn at her. She waved him off, indicating he should leave her alone, according to reports.
The man pulled into an adjacent car wash stall near the teenager and continued trying to get her attention, which she attempted to ignore. He drove across Kimmerling Road into the parking lot across from the car wash, stopped, and continued staring at the teenager.
The 17-year-old got in her vehicle to drive away. He drove back to the car wash parking lot near the girl.
She called 911 and reported to incident to sheriff's office dispatchers. On their advice, she went inside the nearby 7-Eleven store and reported the incident to the clerk.
They watched the man drive around the building, and stop near the gas pumps where he could look inside the store.
When the clerk went out to confront him, the man drove away.
Deputies obtained a partial license plate number which led them to Oronia-Camacho's house in the Ranchos. Investigation of vehicles, clothing and witnesses led them to believe he was the suspect, and Oronia-Camacho was taken into custody.
He is suspected of committing a similar act earlier Wednesday involving a 16-year-old, according to reports.
Oronia-Camacho was a suspect in a similar incident in 2010, but there was insufficient evidence to prosecute him, according to reports.
Anyone who has been subject to a similar incident with the suspect or seen the vehicle is asked to call Investigations, 782-9905.
