Tennis: Tigers sweep Wooster

The Douglas High School boys' varsity tennis team claimed a 10-9 victory over Wooster Tuesday afternoon in Minden, emerging successfully from a tiebreaker round.

Cody Tindel won all three of his singles sets for the Tigers and Connor Lyons and Joey Swisher won their three doubles sets to lead the way for Douglas.

Pat Johnson won a pair of singles matches and Michael Johnson added another win.

Tindel, Pat and Michael Johnson, and Lyons and Swisher each won their tiebreaker match, and Keaton Peters and Jon Pelcher stepped up to provide the decisive point in the match, winning their double's tiebreaker as well.


The Douglas High girls' squad picked up a 12-6 win over Wooster in Reno Tuesday afternoon, winning each round by identical 4-2 scores.

Kari TenBroeck won her only set of the day 6-1, Courtney McKimmey won her two matches and Ann Pomroy won her third-round set 6-2.

Kelly Sonnemann and Ingrid Carlson teamed to win all three of their doubles matches, Katelin Teigen and Bryana McNamara swept their three sets and Marissa Cowan and Kellie Hergenrader won their three sets to complete a perfect day on the doubles' side.
