A much loved father, grandfather, great grandfather, son, and brother, Richard Lee Servantes, 65, passed away on September 11, 2012 in Concord, California, shortly after being diagnosed with cancer. Richard was born February 21, 1947 in Martinez, California to Tillie Servantes and was the oldest of six children.
Richard worked in the entertainment business at Harrah's Lake Tahoe for 16 years while also owning and maintaining his landscaping business for 30 years. He had a passion for classic cars and was involved with the Valley Cruisers Car Club in Gardnerville, Nev. for several years. Richard also briefly owned a hot dog restaurant, Rowdy Dogs, named after his beloved dog Rowdy. Richard was known for his great sense of humor and was adored by his grandchildren whom he loved to entertain and laugh with.
Richard was preceded in death by his son, Richard Lee Servantes Jr.; his mother, Tillie Servantes; brother, Matthew Servantes and sister, Diana Servantes. He is survived by the mothers of his children, Katherine Servantes of Martinez, Calif. and Natalie Servantes of Gardnerville, Nev.; daughter, Sonya Castro and husband, Joseph, of Oakley, Calif.; daughter-in-law, Marie Servantes-Huie of Martinez, Calif.; daughters, Maggie Servantes of Martinez, Calif.; Nicole Servantes of Walnut Creek, Calif.; Gina Ward and husband, Tony, of Gardnerville, Nev.; and Jessica Servantes of Gardnerville, Nev.; grandchildren, Javier Leyba, Jesse Leyba and wife, Sandra, Racquel Servantes, Kassidy Ward, Richie Servantes, Tyler Errington, Connor Ward, Katie Castro, and Amelia Errington; great-grandchildren, Alicia and Isabel Leyba; sisters, Julia Mangino, Georgia Servantes and Peggy Silva.
A memorial service will be held Thursday, September 20, 2012, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church. 606 Mellus St., Martinez, CA. Interment will immediately follow at Queen of Heaven Cemetery in Lafayette, Calif.
