Man released in Kingsbury accident

A South Lake Tahoe man involved in a single vehicle accident on Kingsbury Grade on Wednesday was released from custody on Friday.

Julian Brazil III, 55, was taken into custody for second instance of driving under the influence and possession of a controlled substance.

The accident occurred at about 2:30 p.m. about a mile up the grade from Foothill Road.

Emergency units responded to reports of a tan Toyota Tundra that hit a rock embankment along the grade.

First-responders reported only minor damage to the vehicle. Brazil, the vehicle's sole occupant, was up and walking around, according to witnesses.

Brazil was transported to Carson Valley Medical Center for treatment of minor injuries.

While examining the wreck, a deputy reported finding an open beer can in the driver's door.

A blood sample was taken from Brazil, who was released on his own recognizance after spending two days in Douglas County jail.

He is scheduled to return to court on Nov. 26.
