Sentencing delayed in battery case

While it will be three weeks before a Gardnerville man faces sentencing on a charge of second domestic battery, his 17-year-old victim was allowed to testify in the case on Wednesday.

Saying she didn't know why she stayed with him despite the abuse, she described the incident that prompted Robert Schwoerer's July 14 arrest.

"I'm doing this because I fear for the next girl," she said. "This attack against me was not the first act of violence, nor was it the most severe."
