Johnson Lane daycare celebrates three decades

In 1982, Pete and Nan Ferlisi opened a preschool and daycare in the Johnson Lane area.

That program - known simply as a Kids Kind of Place - still runs in the blue house off Vicky Lane.

"At that time, the house was half our home and half our daycare," the couple said in a press release. "In 1988, we moved out, and it became all preschool and daycare - a 3,000-square-foot building."

This year, the Ferlisis are celebrating their 30th anniversary in business. They said they're now seeing children whose parents attended Kids Kind of Place years ago.

"We are proud to serve the surrounding communities and still offer school transportation for Pinon Hills and Jacks Valley elementary schools," they said. "We are proud and thankful to our customers and community for making 30-plus years possible."

Located at 2679 Vicky Lane, Minden, Kids Kind of Place is open 6:30 a.m.-6 p.m. Monday-Friday.
