Carolyn Louise Messer passed on August 11, 2012 at Ormsby Post Acute Rehab center in Carson City, NV at the age of 73. Carolyn was born in Eclipse, VA on May 19, 1939 to Milton and Delma Richardson. She and her older sister, Barbara, enjoyed fishing, crabbing, and troublemaking in the rural coastal village as children.
After graduating from high school, Carolyn attended nursing school and eventually specialized as a Nurse Anesthetist. A nursing school chum, and lifelong friend, Jean Messer introduced Carolyn to her single brother-in-law, Allen. After a short but whirlwind romance, on September 5, 1971 they married in Suffolk, VA.
Carolyn and Allen moved to the San Francisco Bay Area, where Carolyn began working as a Nurse Anesthetist at Kaiser Permanente in Santa Clara, CA. In 1973 they welcomed into the world their only child, Thomas Allen. For the next couple of decades Carolyn enjoyed spending time with her family, making stained glass, camping, boating, fishing and taking road trips with her husband.
In 1998, Carolyn and Allen retired to Gardnerville, NV to their custom home. Carolyn enjoyed playing bridge and resting in her retirement.
Carolyn is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Tom and Kelly Messer of Fresno, CA.
Carolyn is preceded in death by her husband; Allen, in 2008, and sister, Barbara in 2000.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Carson Valley United Methodist Church in Gardnerville, NV on August 25, 2012.
