Michael A. Chappell, 77, Gardnerville, NV passed away on Friday, August 24, 2012 with his daughter Kimberly by his side.
He was born on September 17, 1934 to Earl and Elma Chappell in Manhattan, Kansas. He is survived by his children, Amy, David, Chris, Jacqueline, Kimberly, Michael, and Max; and family members Alice, Steve and Star; along with his 14 grandchildren who adored him. Grandpa was a big presence to all!
In his younger days, Mike was a creative genius in the advertising world where he worked coast to coast including New York City, Chicago, and California. Referred to as the “Golden Boy” by some, Mike had a knack for spinning yarn into gold when he wrote an ad or told a tale! It was this gift that earned him the prestigious Clio award, the annual awards bestowed to reward innovation and creative excellence in advertising, design and communication. Mike would become quite comfortable in the award arena, where his creative prowess was often recognized within the industry.
In the later years of his life, he spent time with his family to include the annual family reunion held at Donner Lake in Truckee, where everyone traveled far and wide to come together under the same sky. It was in moments like this, when the family was all together, that Mike was most happy. He was loved and cherished by all of his friends and family, and he will be deeply missed. We all love you!
