Minden Elementary reaching for Raley's grant

Minden Elementary School is currently in third place for a $10,000 grant from Raley's Supermarkets.

You can help MES win the grant by logging on to the Raley's site at and register with them if you don't already have an account.

Then you can search for the Raley's Reach logo, select Nevada, and find MES, or, after you register, you can just use the link Voting is open now through Aug. 31.

So, the $10,000 question. What is MES going to use the money for?

We would use the Raley's Reach funds to be able to purchase needed playground equipment for the east side of our playground. Students have recess periods where 150-200 children are on the playground at a time, but the current equipment only accommodates about 50 students at a time. The new equipment would allow for others to be able to slide, climb, jump, hide, run, and play simultaneously.

Recess and physical activity benefits are proven to help students academically, making it a win-win for the students. So please join us in supporting the students of Minden Elementary School become more physically active, play together, and succeed in school.
