Firefighters responding to 30-acre Washoe Valley blaze

Firefighters are responding to a 30-acre fire on the east side of Highway 395 just south of Old Washoe City.

Four engines, two helicopters and two handcrews have been dispatched from the Sierra Front.

Truckee Meadows Fire Protection District is also sending units.

No structures are reported to be in danger and Highway 395 was open as of 5 p.m.

Meanwhile, East Fork firefighters responded to a report of a cable line hanging low over Foothill road near the entrance to Jobs Peak.

Firefighters closed the road until 5:17 p.m. while waiting for Charter Communications to respond. Then they cut the cable and reopened the road.
