Danny's Ironwood Grill closed

The booths are empty at Danny's Ironwood Grill in Minden. The door is locked, and there's no one inside.

"I've been coming here for 15 years," said a 76-year-old Gardnerville resident, who wanted to remain anonymous.

The woman had brought her friend to the restaurant on Thursday morning only to find the business closed. She said she remembered when the restaurant, located at Highway 395 and Ironwood Drive, was still a Denny's.

It actually opened as a Denny's in 1994, becoming Danny's Ironwood Grill in 2003.

"They always had a really good senior menu," the woman said. "It's a bummer."

Although there was no sign of life inside the restaurant on Thursday, the marquee on the side of the building had a pointed message:

"Closed / Obama casualty / Thanks for all the years."
