Firefighters responding to East Valley blaze

Federal firefighters are taking over a 1.5-acre wildfire set by lightning off Eldon Way in the East Valley.

The fire was first reported at 3:10 p.m., according to the Sierra Front Interagency Dispatch and is one of three set in the last hour by a storm cell across the region. Fires were also reported near Constantia Road south of Doyle and on Mount Rose.

A helicopter was called out to battle the blaze along with ground crews.

Initial reports revealed a 1-1.5-acre fire moving in light-moderate fuels at a slow-moderate pace.
