Firefighters hopeful for containment on southern blazes

Firefighters hope to contain the Lake Fire Complex burning south of Wellington by Tuesday night.

Assistant Public Information Officer Sarah Tone said firefighters are coming from all over the West to battle the fire, which was first reported on Sunday afternoon, and consists of the Lake and Murphy fires.

One firefighter injured a hand while fighing the blaze. No structures are threatened.

The Lake fire has grown to 247 acres and is burning just west of Highway 338 about 10 miles south of Wellington. The Murphy fire has grown to 57 acres and is burning north of Highway 395 about …
