The 2012 Lake Tahoe Summit will feature the governors of Nevada and California, among other regional politicians, officials announced Monday.
The 16th Annual Lake Tahoe Summit, hosted by Sen. Dean Heller, R-Nev., takes place Aug. 13 at Edgewood Tahoe Resort in Stateline.
Aside from Heller, the following regional politicians will be on hand: Nevada Gov. Brian Sandoval, California Gov. Jerry Brown, Nevada Lt. Gov. Brian Krolicki, California Sen. Dianne Feinstein and California Congressman Tom McClintock.
"The annual Lake Tahoe Summit is a great opportunity to reflect on past accomplishments and chart future efforts to ensure the long-term health of Lake Tahoe - one of the most spectacular places on earth," Heller said in a statement. "I am honored to host this year's Summit, which will focus on investing in the future of Lake Tahoe through public-private partnerships. These annual forums have been instrumental in keeping the challenges facing Lake Tahoe in focus, and I look forward to working with everyone involved."
The Tahoe Summit has been held every year since 1997. Nevada Sen. Harry Reid helped organize the inaugural event that featured President Bill Clinton and brought international attention to the environmental challenges facing the lake, which straddles the Nevada-California line.
Further details on the summit are expected to be released in the coming days.
