Tuesday morning, a track auto, recently purchased by the Virginia & Truckee Railway company, made its initial trip from Carson to Minden and the great try-out proved the car to be a great success. The auto has a seating capacity of about 25 persons and is capable of making even faster time than the regular train. Manager Ardery accompanied by a party of Carson friends were passengers on the first trip and expressed themselves as being greatly pleased with the performance of the little car.

The United States forest service has set aside a tract of 1,000 acres, six miles south of Mono Lake, to preserve for posterity a typical virgin forest of Jeffrey pine, according to word received at Bridgeport yesterday from federal officials.

Singer Gene Austin entered the race for Nevada governor last week when he filed on the Democratic ticket. It is Austin's first venture into politics. Austin will be on the primary Democratic ballot with incumbent Governor Grant Sawyer and George Moore of Las Vegas.

Kids in Carson Valley are being alerted: There will be a carnival at the Douglas County Fair. According to Fair Board member Nancy Dudley, the Candy Land carnival of Colton, Calif., will offer six to eight kiddie rides, four major rides and "all the things that go with a carnival, corn dogs, cotton candy, and candied apples," plus two fun houses.

Douglas County commissioners, along with the Carson Valley Historical Society, want to begin a massive cleaning and restoration project at the Dangberg Home Ranch. The house will stay quiet for a while longer while lawyers negotiate a settlement to a seven-year-old lawsuit.
