Everybody loves barbecue

More than a century of collective musical experience is what gives Mumbo Gumbo its eclectic sound.

The Sacramento-based group is playing a free concert 7:30 p.m. July 21 for David Walley's 150th anniversary.

"Everyone has an extensive history of playing different kinds of music, and everyone has wide-varied interests," vocalist Chris Webster said. "All our different backgrounds bring different styles into the music."

Mumbo Gumbo has played together for 22 years with band members ranging in ages from their late 30s to late 60s.
