Tipped over semi snarls Carson traffic

A commercial vehicle blocked Carson Street at Fairview in Carson City for the better part of five hours today.

Nevada Highway Patrol troopers responded to the 9:38 a.m. accident in which a semi truck and trailer loaded with 40,000 pounds of auto parts tipped over while trying to turn south onto Carson Street from Fairview.

As the semi negotiated the left turn, the load shifted causing the semi truck and trailer to overturn onto its right side. All travel lanes were blocked for approximately 45 minutes.

The driver of the truck, Reno resident John Charles Head, 61, was unhurt in the accident.

Southbound Carson Street reopened at 2:29 p.m. after four heavy duty tow trucks righted the semi truck and trailer. Southbound traffic was routed to alternate routes with minimal interruption during the accident.

The owner of the vehicle is High Mountain Transportation out of Lockwood.
