Kids turn out for 23rd fishing derby

The 23rd annual Kids Fishing Derby was a reeling success, according to 2012 derby president Steve Hamilton.

About 1,500 kids showed up Saturday and Sunday, he said, and the majority caught their limit of two fish.

"If not the best derby I've done in 10 years, it certainly was number two on the list," Hamilton said. "If anything, because of the heat, the bite was a little slow.
