The Carson Valley Hot Shots travelling softball 12U team won the recent Fallon Memorial Classic tournament over Memorial weekend.
Carson Valley blasted through the opening day of competition, beating the Fallon Force 6-0, the Elko Inferno 1-0 and the Fernley Dynamite 6-4.
The Hots Shots trailed the Fernley Dynamite 6-3 in the final inning in the first round of the elimination bracket and were down to their last out before staging a big comeback.
Madison Rogers hit a single to right field to start the rally and Carson Valley tied the game at 6 to extend the game. The Hot Shots pushed ahead to win 7-6 in the ninth inning.
From there, Carson Valley defeated the Elko Inferno 13-1 and the Reno Predators 9-0 in the championship game.
"This team has big heart and determination," coach Ed Doughty said. "They worked hard in the offseason to improve their skill sets. Now it's time to keep getting better with each game and tournament."
Carson Valley competed in Winnemucca last weekend and will host the Carson Valley Days Classic on Saturday and Sunday.
During the Fallon tournament, Jordyn Pinochi went 9-for-12 with a home run, a triple and a double.
Casey Peck went 11-for-14 with eight RBIs and Madi Peters and Kietja Bennett combined to allowed just five earned runs in 30 innings pitched.
Madi Rozier, Haley Doughty, Chloie Pratt, Taryn Allmett and Kylie Swan were solid on defense for the Hot Shots and Faith Connelly, Kenzie Brixey and Mackenzie Peters contributed as well.
The team is coached by Ed Doughty, Brian Peck, Don Swan, Tracy Connelly and Eddie Pratt.
The Hot Shots 14U squad placed third at the Carson qualifier and in Fallon.
