Candy, balloons, bottles and cans grounded for Carson Valley Days

They won't be throwing candy, and balloons won't be flying parade morning, but most Carson Valley Days traditions will continue this week, including the carnival opening this evening to special needs children and the Gardnerville street party on Friday night.Another tradition that will continue this year will be the maximum deployment by the Douglas County Sheriff's Office during the celebration.Sheriff's spokesman Sgt. Jim Halsey said deputies will be patrolling downtown Gardnerville 7 p.m. to 2 a.m. on Friday night."Residents typically commemorate Carson Valley Days by socializing with each other at many of the restaurants and bars located in the business …
