Human remains found near Benton may be accused bank robber

A human skull found near Benton is being investigated by the Mono County Sheriff's Office.

The skull was discovered Tuesday afternoon and led investigators to additional remains and clothes, including identification belonging to Steven Craig Wiswell.

Mono County authorities are seeking to positively identify the remains and the manner of death.

Wiswell, 51, is a suspect in a St. Patrick's Day 2010 bank robbery in Bishop. Police issued a warrant for his arrest in connection with the Chase Bank robbery.
