Residents in front of Preacher fire advised to evacuate

Pine Nut residents were advised to leave their homes after the 700-acre Preacher fire advanced. No structures are immediately threatened, but the fire is not contained, and flames are about three-quarters of a mile from homes.Voluntary evacuations were implemented as the fire continued to burn in the mountains east of Gardnerville, according to Sierra Front Fire Information Officer Elayn Briggs.The lightning-caused fire is growing at a moderate rate in sage, grass, pinon and juniper on Bureau of Land Management and Bureau of Indian Affairs allotment territory.Sheriff's Sgt.
