The Douglas County Parks & Recreation Department kicks off the 2012 GE Family Concert Series 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. June 1 in Minden Park with Garratt Wilkin & the Parrotheads (Jimmy Buffett tribute) co-sponsored by Dr. James the Dentist.

Bring a low back chair or blanket and enjoy an evening of music in the park. Food will be available to purchase provided by the Lion's Club.

Garratt Wilkin & the Parrotheads perform a celebration of Jimmy Buffett music. The band is experiencing an expanding popularity while headlining fairs and festivals not only in Wilkin's hometown of Placerville, Calif., but throughout all of the Western United States, including Alaska and Hawaii, and as far away as Florida, Texas, Vermont, Delaware, Massachusetts, Connecticut and Nashville, Tenn.

"Traveling with The Parrotheads is a great way to meet Jimmy Buffett fans and to make new Parrothead friends," Wilkins said. "We get such a kick out of performing for fans that become just as much a part of the show as we are."

The concert is free to the community thanks to the following organizations and businesses: Americans for Prosperity, Carson Valley Inn, Carson Valley Medical Center, Commissioner Lee Bonner, Dr James the Dentist, Edward Jones Investment, Edgewood Companies, Esmeralda Farmers Market, GE Energy, Nevada Johns, Starbucks Roasting plant, Sullivan Law, Tahoe Creamery, Town of Minden, Tahoe Regional Young Professionals, Tumblewind Antiques, Wells Fargo Advisor, LLC, member SIPC, Wells Fargo Home Mortgage.
