Studio art tour features 18 artists

The fourth annual Johnson Lane studio art tour in Minden is 10 a.m.-4 p.m. May 19 and 20.

"We have a variety of talented artists living so close together. I thought what a great location for art enthusiastic people to meet the artists," organizer Jan Rollenhagen said. "This also gives the artist a chance to meet their customers and hear their request for subject matter."

The tour consists of eight Johnson Lane studios where 18 different artists in the mediums of oil, watercolor, acrylics, pastels, gallery gourds, metal art, jewelry, silk painting scarves, furniture finishing and more will be showing and selling their works. This year, local authors have been invited to attend as well.

"People like studio tours. They can see how and where the artist works, the space needed and the materials they use. The personal element," Rollenhagen said. "This also gives the artists a chance to show a variety of different work they might do, most artists dabble in several mediums. People like to buy directly from an artist , which makes it a win-win situation."

The Johnson lane studio art tour is free and open to the public. Artists list and self-guided maps can be downloaded online at Signs will be posted throughout the neighborhood to keep participants on track..
