Gardnerville supports senior affordable housing project

Six months after a consultant reported Douglas County lacked affordable housing for seniors, a proposed development addressing such a need is gaining traction in Gardnerville.On Tuesday, Gardnerville town board members approved a letter of support for Parkway Vista - a 30-unit low-income senior housing community proposed to be constructed at 1331 Stodick Parkway.The letter of support will accompany a submittal package developer New Beginnings is sending to the Nevada Housing Division in an effort to obtain funding."It will be the first of its kind in Carson Valley," said Town Manager Tom Dallaire.
