The Carson Valley Pops Orchestra opens its 12th year Saturday with an annual spring concert.
The concert begins at 7 p.m. in the CVIC Hall in Minden, and Conductor Elizabeth Eubanks said to arrive early because seating will go fast.
Carson Valley Pops is comprised of more than 30 local musicians, both amateur and professional.
The spring concert is one of the four free concerts the pops perform every year.
The pops also performs a Fourth of July concert in Gardnerville, a fall concert and a winter concert.
There will be a nohost bar and raffles for prizes from Fresh Ideas, Aladdin Flowers and local artists.
Since the concert is free, donations are welcome. The money will go toward new instruments and sheet music for the orchestra library.
All orchestra members are volunteers who enjoy sharing their talents with their community.
Eubanks said they are always in need of additional string performers, and they have current openings for French horn, oboe, bassoon and trombone.
Auditions are open to people of all ages who play a standard orchestral instrument. Auditions will be conducted as necessary by Eubanks.
The Carson Valley Pops rehearses 7-9 p.m. Mondays in the CVIC Hall.
