The Douglas County Education Foundation will again celebrate the best of the best by honoring Teachers of the Year from each school in the district.
The 2012 Golden Apple Awards will take place at Carson Valley Inn in the Douglas/Sierra Banquet Room on May 8. Doors open at 5 p.m., with dinner being served at 5:30 p.m., and the program beginning at 6 p.m.
The annual event, formerly held during lunchtime, will have a different feel this year, said foundation representatives. It not only will be held in the evening, but will be open to the public.
Tickets can be purchased in advance for $20 per person. Each of the 11 schools in the district will honor their individual teacher of the year, and Superintendent Lisa Noonan will announce the district-wide Teacher of the Year at the conclusion of the evening program.
Tickets can be purchased in advance at Valley Pediatric Dentistry (Dr. Todd Gray's office) until May 4, or can be reserved by emailing Blaine Spires at firstname.lastname@example.org.
This year, the event is sponsored by the Carson Valley Inn, DDI, David and Johnson Ltd., Edgewood Companies, GE, NV Energy, Tahoe Supply and Verizon.
