The California Highway Patrol is handling two noninjury accidents on Interstate 80 and a traffic hazard on Highway 50, where a truck was stuck in the mountains.
High winds played havoc with power lines and motorists around Western Nevada. At 5:30 p.m. Saturday, the Lyon County Sheriff's Office reported powerlines down and three transformers on fire, knocking out electricity to the city of Yerington. Highway 95 from Hawthorne to Luning was closed due to a blinding dust storm on Saturday evening.
A 76 mph wind gust was reported in Walker and a 63 mph gust was reported in Carson City.
The peak wind gust in Carson Valley is reported at 48 mph on Saturday. More than half an inch of rain fell in the Gardnerville Ranchos on Saturday.
A hazardous weather outlook has been issued for Western Nevada, isolated snow showers will continue until 11 a.m. today. A cold front is expected to move across the region on Tuesday night with strong gusty winds. While some precipitation is expected along the front, there isn't much moisture available for the storm, so accumulations are expected to be light.
