Annual Easter egg hunt April 8 at Lampe Park

When Carson Valley Active 20-30 club member Rick Stuardi moved to the Valley in 2011, one of the first community events he attended was the annual Easter egg hunt at Lampe Park.

Experiencing first hand what the club does for children was a contributing factor to him joining a few months later.

"In about five minutes everything was gone. It was fantastic, "he said. "There was a huge demographic of people. Everybody showed up, and my kids loved it."

The 20-30 men have been busy preparing for this year's egg hunt happening at 1p.m. April 8 in Lampe Park.

"It's an opportunity for folks to get together and have that small-town feel in an event centered around children," Stuardi said. "Our mission is to give back to the community specifically for children. This is a neat way to give back and involve the community in an Easter egg hunt."

The hunt will be divided up into three age groups, one for ages 0-3, one for ages 4-7 and one for ages 8-12.

Along with 300 dozen real eggs for the kids to find, there will be 600 candy-filled plastic eggs as well.

The children who find the two golden eggs hidden on the fields will receive a prize basket after the hunt.

The Easter bunny will be making an appearance, helping out the little ones, and posing for pictures.

To offset the cost of the egg hunt, the 20-30 club is having a shotgun shoot April 14 at Carson Valley Clays in south Gardnerville.

Registration begins at 8 a.m. and costs $50. The competition is open to all skill levels, and lunch will be provided.

The Carson Valley Active 20-30 Club raises money through various events all year to help local disadvantaged kids.

Beneficiaries have included Pop Warner Football, Carson Valley Little League, Junior Rodeo and Douglas High Speech and Debate.

This year the club's largest fundraiser, Carson Valley Days, will be June 6-10 with the theme "An Irish Celebration."
