Indian Hills carpet cleaner to release book on industry

Carson Valley residents about to embark on spring cleaning now have a new resource regarding their carpet.

In his book, "How To Avoid Nightmare Carpet Cleaners," Stephen Jaenchen, owner of Summit Cleaning in Indian Hills, offers an insider's perspective to the tricks, scams and horror stories of the industry.

He also provides a guide with do-it-yourself cleaning tips and questions to ask when hiring a professional.

"If I were to hire a carpet cleaner myself, or advise a close friend or family member on who to hire (or not to hire), these are the questions I would ask to make sure they got what they paid for and were not left unhappy, or worse," Jaenchen said. "Because our industry has no licensing or certification requirements, the door is open wide for uneducated, uninformed and sometimes downright unscrupulous carpet cleaners to come into people's homes and create damage, sometimes extensive, through the use of improper chemicals or procedures."

Jaenchen will be releasing the book at this year's Nevada Women's Expo, March 31 and April 1 at the Reno Convention Center.
