There will also be a very tasty barbecue lunch included for golfers. The cost for golf and lunch is $30, with a cost of $15 for those who only want to watch the golf and have lunch. Sign ups start at 9 a.m., with tee-off at 10 a.m. This is always a fun event, played on a challenging "golf course". On Easter Sunday, April 8, the Lions Club will again have their annual Easter Egg hunt for our kids. The hunt is geared to all the different age groups and takes place outside the Community Building in Walker. The hunt starts at 11 a.m., so get there a little early to get them ready for the fun.
Early highway warning
As most Antelope Valley residents have heard, CalTrans will be doing major work on Highway 395 at High Point at Topaz Lake for approximately six months this year. They will begin the road realignment in early April and continue until approximately the end of October. The really difficult part will be the total night-time closure of the highway for an estimated 14 days in May.
The road will be closed to all traffic from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. every night and open during the days with delays. The only alternate routes are either taking Highway 89 over Monitor Pass or Highway 208 from Holbrook Junction to Wellington, then down Route 182 to Bridgeport. Needless to say, this is going to affect all of us with our needs to reach appointments and shopping to our north. I'll pass on more information regarding dates when I receive them.
