The Douglas County Library has once again teamed with In-N-Out Burger for their annual "Cover to Cover" reading program. Starting Saturday, children ages 4-12 are encouraged to register at the library and earn food certificates simply by reading books.
For every five books read at their grade level, children will earn an Achievement Award redeemable for either a hamburger or cheeseburger at In-N-Out. Each reader can earn up to three awards. Children too young to read on their own may have a parent read to them.
The program runs through April 12. The Douglas County Library has two locations: 1625 Library Lane in Minden and 233 Warrior Way in Zephyr Cove. For more information, log onto www.douglas.lib.nv.us or call 782-9841.

Carson Valley Golf Course hosts St. Patrick's Day tourney
The folks at Carson Valley Golf Course invite everyone to their 10th annual St. Patrick's Day tournament on March 17.
The fun begins with a shotgun start at 10 a.m. The event includes golf, a continental breakfast, lunch, $10 prize fund, and a green ball, all for just $40. Season Pass holders pay the usual fee plus $20.
Teams of four can be your own design, or the course can assemble one for you. Three players play scramble for stableford points, and an alternating fourth player plays the green ball for additional points. There's a pot o' gold (or, at least a pot o' green) for winners at the end.
Carson Valley Golf Course is located at 1027 Riverview Drive in the Gardnerville Ranchos. For more information or to sign up, log on to www.carsonvalleygolf.com or call the clubhouse at 265-3181.
