Genoa celebrates a week of Christmas

It's not Christmas in Genoa until the Hope Falcke tree is bathed in lights. Seven hundred feet of white Christmas lights to be exact.

The annual Christmas in Genoa celebration begins Dec. 2 with caroling in the town church at 5 p.m.

"It's a real strong sense of community. Genoa provides a nice backdrop to the holiday season," said Town Manager, Sheryl Gonzales. "The town's all lit up and Santa's there. It's a really sweet event."

After the caroling, visitors are invited to the corner of Nixon and Main streets for the tree lighting ceremony. Santa Claus will arrive shortly …
