Applications available for tree, gingerbread house contests

The friends and volunteers of the Douglas County Historical Society are working to transform the Carson Valley Museum & Cultural Center into a virtual winter wonderland. 

Once again the museum's annual Holiday Gala will fill the halls and exhibit rooms with exquisitely decorated Christmas trees and gingerbread houses created by individuals, service clubs and other community groups from the area. 

The Holiday Gala kicks-off at 10 a.m. Dec. 3, and includes a cookie walk, pictures with Santa and holiday discounts at the museum book store and gift shop. 

Applications to participate in the gallery of trees and gingerbread house decorating contest are available at the museum,1477 Highway 395, Gardnerville, or on line at www.historic  For more information call the museum at 782-2555.
