A celebration of life is scheduled 10 a.m. Saturday in the parish hall at St. Apollinaris Catholic Church in Napa, Calif., for former Minden resident Dayton William Lane Moore, 18, who died in an auto accident on Feb. 6, 2011, in Napa.
Born Aug. 1, 1992, in Santa Cruz, Calif., Mr. Moore lived in Minden before his family moved to Napa when he was in third-grade.
Mr. Moore attended Napa High School before transferring to the Napa Alternative School until October 2010.
He worked as a barista at the Starbucks in South Napa Marketplace.
An avid duck and pheasant hunter, he was a legacy greenwing with Ducks Unlimited and enjoyed hunting with his grandfather, with whom he shared a love of wildlife and the outdoors.
Mr. Moore was a poet who won first prize in the 2009 Jessamyn West Creative Writing Competition for his poem titled "One for Sorrow."
He is survived by parents Kelly and David Moore; sister Jennifer Moore, all of Napa; grandmother Sondra Moore of Marysville, Calif.; grandparents Robert and Launi Logan of Sparks; uncles Mick (Sherry) Moore and Rick (Linda) Moore; aunts Sherry (Jim) Gullett, Bonnie (Jason) Whipple of Yuba City, Pam (Jim) Busby of Sacramento and Connie (Louie) Peligrino of Portland, Ore. and numerous cousins.
