Lira's Supermarket in Minden Village is holding a fundraiser for Douglas County Sheriff's Capt. Mike Biaggini who has been fighting colon cancer for eight years.
Lira's is selling raffle tickets for a 3-minute shopping spree Feb. 12 at the store.
Tickets are $5 each or five for $20.
Store manager Kevin Mary said owner Jim Lira read about Biaggini's battle with cancer and wanted to help.
“Jim Lira saw an article in the paper and said, ‘We need to help out. He (Biaggini) is part of the community,'” Mary said.
ABE Printing & Copy Center of Minden donated the tickets.
Proceeds from the fundraiser will go to the Biagginis to help with medical expenses, Mary said.
Tickets are available at Lira's, Café Girasole in Gardnerville and the Carson Valley Country Club in the Gardnerville Ranchos.
