The R-C Morning Report

Accidents in Pine Nuts, Sierra

The Nevada Highway Patrol is working an injury accident in the southbound lane at Highway 395 and China Spring. The accident was reported at 5:53 a.m. A second accident was reported at 6:09 a.m. on Kingsbury Grade. Motorists should expect delays getting past both accidents.

Tahoe under winter weather advisory

Lake Tahoe is under a winter weather advisory and the rest of Douglas County is under a hazardous weather outlook issued by the National Weather Service this morning. The wind advisory remains in effect for Western Nevada through 7 a.m. this morning. The winter weather advisory will expire at 10 a.m. According to the weather service, winds of up to 50 mph are possible above 5,000 feet in Mono County through the morning.

Warm in the Valley right now

It's pretty warm outside with the temperature at 37 degrees in Genoa, and 39 degrees in Minden. Rain and snow are likely before 10 a.m. in the Valley with winds 15-20 mph and gusts of up to 30 mph. Daytime accumulations of snow will hit about an inch.

Expect slick roads above 6,000 feet

The road conditions are pretty much what you'd expect, with chains or snow tires required over Kingsbury and Spooner, and around the Lake. Chains or four-wheel drive are required over all Carson Pass, Echo Summit and Donner Pass.
