The R-C Morning Report

Battle of the berm

The snow berm through town is being slowly chewed up. The state plows were as far as Buckeye on Wednesday afternoon and should continue their way south to Gardnerville. So far it doesn't look like it's going anywhere on its own. I was driving through Minden at about 2:15 p.m. Wednesday and there was some sort of discussion going on between the drivers of a school bus and a snow plow. When I came back through there was an NHP trooper parked behind them. It didn't look like either vehicle was particularly damaged, and there was no official report of an accident that we heard or saw on the Web site.

Is it me, or did it warm up a little

It's warmed up a little over Wednesday. It's 2 degrees in Minden and 3 in Genoa, which is an improvement. The National Weather Service has removed the special statement from its Web site, which is just as well since they were just cutting and pasting it in each day. Clouds are supposed to build in today and there's a chance we'll see snow over the next four days.

Freezer door due to shut

The real good news is that the bitter cold snap we find ourselves in should be retiring tonight, with the low getting down to 20 degrees. That's surfing weather compared to what we've had.

Airport Advisory Committee meets tonight

Members of the Airport Advisory Committee are meeting 6 p.m. tonight to discuss the airport's marketing plan and land rezoning around the airport. The committee meets in the Douglas County commissioners' chambers at 1616 Eighth St.
