Road controls are in effect for every major highway in Western Nevada after 9 inches of snow fell in parts of Carson Valley overnight.

Chains or snow tires are being required on highways 395 and 50 through Douglas County, Kingsbury Grade. Chains are being required on all but four-wheel drive vehicles going over the Sierra on Highways 88 and 50, and Interstate 80.

The Douglas County School District reports the buses are running today.
