Three more accidents today in Valley

Even as emergency personnel were clearing a fatal accident at Highway 395 south of Gardnerville, another head-on collision occurred at Johnson Lane and Vicky Lane.

One person was killed and another severely injured in the Gardnerville accident. The driver of a blue Ford Expedition was helicoptered to Renown Medical Center, according to the Douglas County Sheriff's Office.

The second head-on occurred at 11 a.m. and resulted in one person being helicoptered to Renown Medical Center. There was moderate to major damage done to the vehicles in the north Valley accident.

Authorities have not yet released the identities of those involved in either accident, but the decedent is a retired California firefighter.

Two other accidents occurred this afternoon, but there were no injuries in either.

An accident was reported at Highway 395 and Topsy Lane at 1:33 p.m.

The Nevada Highway Patrol is reporting another property damage accident involving a governmental vehicle at Lucern and Highway 395 that occurred at 1:50 p.m.

Firefighters are still on the scene of that accident.
