The R-C Morning Report

No recommendation for Martha

The Genoa Town Board renewed its objection to competing fairs in town on Candy Dance weekend. Town board members voted Tuesday night against recommending approval for the Peddler's Fair and Autumn Boutique, saying the fairs didn't meet county minimums for restrooms and parking spaces. The applications from Martha Williams and Phil Stoll were identical to those approved by the county last year.

Candy Dance revenues coming in low

Meanwhile estimates are that Candy Dance may be as much as $20,000 short from last year. A discussion of the annual fundraiser's accounting was delayed by town board members at the request of Town Manager Sheryl Gonzales.

Minden town meeting

A presentation by Phil Shapiro on a senior living community concept will lead off the Minden Town Board meeting 7 p.m. tonight. Also the town will discuss the applicant interviews for town manager and a cleanup plan for the Minden Gateway Center. Minden meets in the CVIC Hall.

Storm coming, maybe

It looks like we may be getting a little weather on Thursday, with wind gusts 35-45 mph. The highest winds will be between Lake Tahoe north into Lassen and Surprise Valley. So far the Weather Service is predicting the brunt of the storm will be north of I-80 with snow levels near 6500 feet north of Susanville. Forecasters are uncertain how far south the jet stream will drop, which determines how much moisture falls along the Sierra Crest.

Nice day today

For today, the high temperature will be in the 70s under sunny skies. Much too nice to spend under fluorescent lights, I think.
