A cold front is headed this way and expected to arrive on Monday night, according to the National Weather Service.
Warm sunny days will be replaced by cold blustery ones starting Tuesday.
According to a weather statement issued by the weather service this morning, the winds will kick off Monday afternoon and will hit speeds of 40 mph. They'll swing around to the north early Tuesday morning as the front passes. High profile vehicles will feel the brunt of the winds, which will hi 85 mph over the Sierra ridges.
The Weather Service is hesitant to predict any moisture out of this storm, but some scattered rain or snow showers are expected Monday night. Snow levels will range from 5,000 feet north of Susanville to 9,000 feet in Mono County. Snow levels will fall to the Valley floor by mid-day Tuesday with a chance of snow accumulating east of Highway 395.
The growing season will definitely be over this week as high temperatures plummet to the 40s on Tuesday and Wednesday. Overnight temperatures will definitely be below freezing. The weather service is recommending that any remaining sensitive plants outdoors should be sheltered prior to Tuesday.
