The R-C Morning Report

DUI driver to be sentenced in accident today

An admitted drunken driver who severely injured a Coleville woman when he pulled out in front of her near the Topaz Lodge just before Thanksgiving last year faces up to two decades in prison at sentencing this morning. Jay Corsby, 48, admitted in District Judge Michael Gibbons courtroom to a count of driving under the influence causing substantial bodily harm. His blood alcohol content was .137, according to court documents.

Senior center closed for renovations this week

The Douglas County Senior Center is closed this week for renovations. Lunch will be served at Carson Valley United Methodist Church on Centerville Lane in Gardnerville.

Quiet on the fire front, knock on wood

It's been all quiet on the Sierra Front, with the interagency dispatch reporting only a few errant campfires and the occasional dehydrated camper. So far, we've been lucky as far as wildfires go. Make sure and douse those campfires.

Sunny skies this week

I'm back from vacation and so is the heat. Expect sunny skies and temperatures in the mid-90s through the week. The National Weather Service is forecasting a cool-down into the 80s on Sunday, but that has been pushed back a couple of times. Expect a slight chance of thunderstorms toward the end of the week.
