Cap'n Keith comes to Gardnerville

Keith Colburn, captain of The Wizard featured on The Discovery Channel's Emmy-winning series “Deadliest Catch,” will be in Gardnerville Friday for a barbecue to benefit the Boys & Girls Club of Carson Valley. Colburn will drop in on the Club on Friday afternoon and visit with the kids before arriving at the 5-8 p.m. dinner event.

The summer crab and steak barbecue is hosted by Jethro's Oven-Grille on Kimmerling Road in the Gardnerville Ranchos. Major sponsors include Lira's Market, Carson Valley Accounting, Full Belly Deli, U.S. Food Services, American Fish Co., Scolari's, JT Basque Bar & Dining Room, Kim Lee Sushi, Bravo Café, Copies Plus, Ranchos Pizza Factory, Carson Valley Sertoma Club and Sierra Canopies.

All proceeds from the event will benefit the Boys & Girls Club of Carson Valley, which serves more than 500 children each year.

The barbecue offers a fresh crab dinner, barbecued steak dinner or hot dog kids meal. Members and adults will be served from 5-8 p.m.

Individual tickets to the event are available for $25 each or $5 for kids. To purchase a table or individual tickets, contact Drew Aguilar at 782-7874 or Renea Louie at 782-6715. Organizers say ticket sales are moving swiftly.

Club programs and services promote and enhance the development of boys and girls by instilling a sense of competence, usefulness, belonging and influence. Boys & Girls Clubs are a safe place to learn and grow.
