Cruising hangout

The Valley Cruisers car club host a car show hangout, 1-4 p.m. Sunday, at Centerfield Sports Bar & Grill, 1328 Highway 395, Gardnerville. Music by Time Warp. Food and drink specials offered in Centerfield. Information, Laurie Hennessey, 783-9533.

Benefit concert

Bluegrass band Back Forty plays a concert to benefit Friends of Hope Valley, 1-5 p.m. Sunday, at Sorensen's Resort in Hope Valley. One Trick Pony, aka Larry and Beth, play intermissions. Sorensen's features a barbecue. A donation of $10 will be accepted. Information, Debbi Waldear, (530) 694-1701.

Yarn needed

The Douglas County Senior Center's knitting group seeks yarn donations. The group creates lap blankets for area homebound seniors and retirement homes. Donations accepted 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday at the senior center, 2300 Meadow Lane, Gardnerville, 783-6455.

Farmers markets

Weekly Valley farmers markets feature fruits, vegetables, flowers, bakery items, gifts, outdoor decor, music and food.

The Minden Farmers Market is open 4-8 p.m. Tuesdays through summer between Fourth and Fifth streets in downtown Minden. Information, Roxanne, 782-2444 or Kregg, 782-9814.

The Gardnerville Farmers Market is 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesdays in Lampe Park. Information at the Douglas County Parks & Recreation office, 782-9828.

Monthly wine walk

The Thirsty Third Thursday Wine Walk is 4:30-8:30 p.m. Thursday. Cost is $10 for wrist band, $5 for commemorative wine glass. Chances to win a $100 gift certificate. Carriage rides by Borges Family Carriage Rides, weather permitting.

Main Street Gardnerville hosts wine walks the third Thursday of the month. Information, mainstreetgardnerville.org or 782-8027.



Pony Express rides through Genoa Thursday

The Pony Express Re-Riders ride past the Genoa Courthouse Museum at about 8:30 a.m. Thursday. Call 782-4325 to check if riders are on time.

Movie in the park rescheduled

‘Journey to the Center of the Earth 3D' has been rescheduled for dusk June 19, at Heritage Park off Gilman Avenue in Gardnerville. Cost is $1 for 3D glasses. Vendors include Boy Scout Troop 411, Cold Stone Creamery, DHS Music Boosters, Centerfield Sports Bar & Grill. The next movie in the park is ‘Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull' on July 10. Information, Town of Gardnerville, 782-7134.

Swap meets

Douglas County Historical Society hosts swap meets at the Carson Valley Museum & Cultural Center in Gardnerville, 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. June 20 and 27, July 11 and 25, Aug. 8 and 22 and Sept. 12. Booth spaces $10 in advance, $20 day of sale. Information, www.historicnevada.org or 782-2555.
