Bail remained at $50,000 cash for a 23-year-old Gardnerville Ranchos man accused of the sexual assault of a 14-year-old girl.

East Fork Justice Jim EnEarl refused Wednesday to lower bail for Michael Anthony Allen.

“The allegations are extremely serious,” EnEarl said.

He is accused of putting his hands down the pants of a 14-year-old girl.

He told detectives on Dec. 12 he and two girls were in bed together watching a movie when he went to sleep.

Allen told investigators that when he woke up his hand was down the girl’s pants.

Lawyer Derrick Lopez said plea negotiations were continuing with the district attorney’s office.

EnEarl set a hearing for Jan. 7.
