Celebrate the holidays at any of the many events happening in Carson Valley.
Santa visit
Santa will be at Cheshire Antiques, 1423 Highway 395, Gardnerville, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday. Pictures with Santa available with a donation of two canned food items for the Carson Valley Community Food Closet. Storewide sale and refreshments will be part of the festivities.

Victorian Christmas
The Dake House, 2242 Main St., Genoa, will be decorated in a Victorian-era Christmas theme through Dec. 8. The staff will dress in period costumes and refreshments will be served. Information, Bob and Martha Williams, 782-4951.
Christmas kickoff
The Gardnerville Christmas Kickoff is 5:30 p.m. Wednesday with the lighting of the Christmas tree and the pavilion in Heritage Park.
The event features holiday music by the Sierra Ringers and Christmas carolers, wagon rides and a visit from Santa. Hot chocolate, cider and Dutch oven cobblers provided by the Town of Gardnerville. Popcorn provided by Gardnerville Water Co.

Elks bingo
The Elks annual Spaghetti Feed and Christmas Tree Bingo is 4:30 p.m. Dec. 5 at the CVIC Hall in Minden. Spaghetti dinner starts at 5 p.m. The Minden Park gazebo lighting event will be about 6 p.m., and then return to the CVIC Hall for bingo. Winners receive Douglas fir Christmas tree certificates from Carson Valley Garden and Ranch Center.

Douglas County Historical Society holiday events on Dec. 6 include the Gallery of Trees, cookie walk at 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., photos with Santa from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and gingerbread house display at the Carson Valley Museum & Cultural Center, 1477 Highway 395, Gardnerville.
