Douglas County Sheriff's Office
The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office is seeking information on a woman who allegedly cashed an altered check for $800 at the Minden branch of the Greater Nevada Credit Union on Sept. 24.

According to Investigator Ron Elges, the check was written for $40. He believed the suspect took the check in Reno but cashed it at the Minden bank.

Elges said the original check was in a birthday card for the victim’s son.

“Their son never received the birthday card. The victim obviously found that her account was debited the $800 and not the original $40,” Elges said.

Elges said the suspect, who is wanted for questioning, was driving a blue Liberty Jeep.

Secret Witness is offering a $250 reward for information leading to the arrest or conviction of the suspect.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Elges at 782-9910 or Secret Witness, 782-7463 or 586-7295.
