Deputies seek driver of vehicle that struck car

Deputies were trying to determine the driver of a vehicle which ran over a stop sign, took out a telephone cable box and a 32-foot fence, and crashed into the side of a house on Vicky Lane.

When officers arrived shortly before 8 p.m. Saturday, two males were standing in the yard in the 2700 block of Vicky near the intersection with Stephanie Way.

They refused to show their hands until a deputy drew his service revolve and ordered the pair to the ground. The men suffered bumps and cuts in the accident, but refused treatment.

One of the two men agreed to a preliminary blood test with a result of .297, more than three times the legal limit of .08 for driving in Nevada.

Originally, they refused to identify the driver. Finally, one of the men said his girlfriend, the vehicle’s registered owner, had been driving but she fled on foot.

Deputies and highway patrol officers searched the area but were unable to find her.

The next day, the woman came to the sheriff’s office, but said she was advised by her lawyer to say nothing.

According to deputies, she appeared uninjured. Officers said the interior of the vehicle was spattered with blood and the windshield cracked, leading them to believe whoever drove the car had to have been hurt in the crash.

The vehicle damaged the north side wall of the house, carpet and flooring.
