What to do when the fun stops

Gambling can be a fun recreational activity for Nevada seniors to enjoy during their leisure time. For most people gambling is a harmless form of entertainment and a way to connect socially. For others, gambling can negatively impact one’s relationships, as well as, one’s emotional and financial health.

Stephanie Asteriadis from the Center for the Application of Substance Abuse Technologies and Teresa Sacks from the Sanford Center on Aging will be at the Douglas County Senior Center located at 2300 Meadow Lane in Gardnerville, at 1:30 p.m. Sept. 18 to provide a one-hour informational seminar that will arm Nevada’s seniors and those who care about them with important information about responsible gambling.

Learn about the resources available “when the fun stops.” The 15-minute DVD and yours-to-keep booklet were developed by the Center for the Application of Substance Abuse Technologies and the Sanford Center for Aging at the University of Nevada, Reno, with funds from the Nevada Department of Health and Human Services.
